June Camp 2009 was no doubt a BLAST!
It was planned by a group of J1s this year, putting their leadership skills to the test!

It was a 2-day event packed with whole lots of action, fun and laughter. The gloom brought about by the dreaded JCTs did nothing to dampen our spirits as we had the time of our lives. We went through it together, forging stronger bonds between us. This provided the gel that would be needed as we procede to work as a team in times to come.

Tourism Fiesta' 2009.

Fun-filled day for all of us!

The J1s were given the chance to act as facillitators for the event. As a J1, I feel that it was a great exposure for me. It was really tiring yet fulfilling. Throughout the day, I find myself having to keep up with the children who were so full of energy. We sure did have loads of fun, cheering as we go around.

The food was tantalising; It was healthy and yet nice.. surprisingly.

Apart from that, the games were very appropriate and the children LOVED it!

It was very comforting to see that at the end of the day, many had smiles on their faces.

Hi to all TC members out there!

Finally the blog is being updated.. Anyways, for the benefit of the seniors, as follows is the list of TC members from 2009-2010:

Just for the sake of updates, we're currently preparing for promos and chionging PW so we can't have any events in the next 2 or 3 months (yes I know, year twos. i need to go online less and study harder haha.) Hopefully all our planned events in the Nov/Dec holidays will go well and we'll have a TC chalet at the end of the year :D

Oh! And please look out for photos soon. After promos I guess. Btw, sorry for reverting to the blogger template 'cause all the blog skins I found couldn't work.

Da Nang (occasionally Danang; in Vietnamese: Đà Nẵng pronunciation (help·info))
is a major port city in the South Central Coast of Vietnam, on the coast of the South
China Sea. It is one of the five independent municipalities in Vietnam.
It was called Tourane during the French colonization of Vietnam.

for those who didnt know where danang is that is.anyways,these students who came are around our age group of 17 yrs old.BUT there are SOME differences between them and us.

they're from the top school in their city (tjc's like only the 6th in sg).
they're ALL science/maths OLYMPIADS (and what we're learning in school now is what they've learnt 2 yrs ago)
they're MUCH fitter than most guys in our school (:s sorry guys!maybe you'll might consider training a little harder :x)

well then,i shall leave the photos to do most of the talking!

2008 June camp (second day)

On the second morning we had games instead of PT because everyone was quite exhausted already. There was captain's ball(normal style and the other game was to use a cloth to catch one), digging for puzzle pieces in a bucket filled with flour). We also had to find a golden bean which will earn the group extra points . (haha i was so hungry that i did not have any energy left to play the games) Finally, after the games, we went out to the hawker center to eat breakfast. I gobbled down a bowl of yong tow foo, a cup of soy bean milk, a youtiao. (then i became too full to walk=_=) After the breakfast, we went back to the dorms to clean up the place.

We went to the thearterette for the gift exchange and announcement of husting results. It was followed by the cutting of a big chocolate cake at the marquee there.( The cake was very nice! )After which we were dismissed at the spot.

It was a successful and wonderful camp, i am quite sure that everyone enjoyed it(right?). Special thanks to the jcc for making it so enjoyable. :)

2008 June camp (first day)

Yippee!!! We had our 2008 June camp on the 2nd and 3rd of June. On the first morning, we gathered at room 305, then went to room 306 for games.(hehe, not sure whether I remembered the classroom correctly) We played something using a strand of spaghetti and musical chairs. It was quite fun actually. Then someone said that the forfeit is to run from one side of the classroom to the window and jump down.(Haha, it was just a joke lah. I also think it is quite funny) After that, we went to the thearterette to watch the Simpsons.

For lunch, we went to the hawker centre opposite TJ to eat. Some of us bought our lunch and went to the stage there to eat. When we finished our lunch, we went back to the theaterette. That day was Shawn's birthday too so i think Gwenda or Yuan Chun went to bought a cute little cake with a pikachu on top for him. After that we had our last husting session for the ex-co positions. Haha, some of us were standing there continuously for interview of 2 positions and our legs were quite sore and numb.

It was around 5 already when we headed to East Coast Park for our games. The water games were interesting and everyone was engaged in it and enjoyed themselves. All of us somehow managed to get wet and we had to rinse up to get rid of the salty sea water. We ate our dinner at ECP there and then walked to a bus stop to take a bus back to school.(Haha we almost forgot where to alight) It was shower time finally and everyone was so delighted to be able to wash off the sweat and the salty sea water smell.

After that, the J2s had a discussion while the J1s prepared for the night walk. For one of the station, we had blended vegetable juice( spinach, eggplant, bitter gourd, water from various water bottles, some orange syrup). In the end it tasted like some sort of health drink and it actually tasted not bad! Hehe. We only got to start our night walk at around 2.30 am because we had to wait for other pdps to finish theirs to prevent clashing into them. When the night walk was finished, some of us were tired and slept while the still energetic ones continued playing card and chatting. Althought the classroom was not air conditioned, it was quite cooling during the night. Luckily, we also did not have any unwanted visitors such as beetles, mosquitoes, lizards and other bugs.

Hey all tc members!!!

Tourism Fiesta is like finally over and I really wanna thank everyone cuz all of you made this a memorable event for me (hope you guys think so too). And i think its even more memorable cuz i feel that we really put aside alot of differences in opinions to cooperate and finish organising this event.

Some stuff i would like to say to e year twos:
-To Maria, thanks for being such a great emcee and u spoke very well! U made a really good group leader too (:

-To Junying, thanks for designing the programme booklet, its really nice! And thanks too for heading the games com and giving me so much moral support too, in and out of tc!!! xD

-To Zhihui, thanks for helping to get most of the sponsorships, I would probably have died with the goodie bags without your help! And you were a great stationmaster :)

-To Sharon, thanks for settling all the food stuff! If not for you we would probably have starved to death! And thanks again for helping us with the budget and other monetary stuff, i know it must have been really tedious to be in charge of all the receipts and stuff! xD

-To Clementine, you are certainly one of my best pals in tc! Thanks lots for being there for me in times of need! And you are not slack (so dont think u are), cuz taking minutes is a really tough job! Plus, you were a stationmaster who was so easy with points (HAHA). (:

-To Carol, thanks for being such a great organiser! Without you, tourism fiesta couldnt have been what it was yesterday!xD

the blog is dead but we should not let the senior batches down! we should keep this blog and TC alive !!! (: we cannot let our founder batch down.

please so undate random thots of the day or any feelings up on the blog to keep this blog alive. sharon has also sent out an email regarding our breakdown in communications.

we only meet once a week for our meetings, so i do hope that everyone will make us of the relay system to contact each other about impt information. if anyone has a relay to send out, please send it to maria so that she can start the relay.

remember our tagline. IT'S NEVER A ONE MAN SHOW! please help keep TC alive and the communication going. i know the system is quite broken down lately due to the recent hand over. hopefully things will be better, but i hope for everyone's coorporation. =D

hi all! (:

TC exco plus gwenda went for this International School Students Orientation yesterday and we had quite some fun. it was held at YMCA. we had a talk (seminar) in the morning followed by a tour around the area in the afternoon. we enjoy ourselves quite a bit (esp gwenda) interacting with the foreign students. there were 2 groups of them, one of them where China students taking nursing in HMI (Health and Medical Institution) and another group of mixed students from the region in NUS. gwenda seemed to enjoyed herself the most cause she was the only one who exchanged contacts with the students there. in fact she exchanged her contacts with guys. lalala.

Bryant said that there are such activities every last sat of the month and it would be a good opportunity for us to interact with these foreign students and exchange contacts like what gwenda did. there will be one next week, 7th july to ECP and another one on the 21st july (i think) to Pulau Ubin !!! so people keep ur sats free !!!! year 2s are welcome too (:

Words of Appreciation

due to time constraints, i did not have an opportunity to address everyone during tc camp.

first of all, to the current batch of year 2s. it might be a moment of joy to know that you are being relieved from duties within tc, yet on the other hand, a part within you can't seem to let go of whatever tc matters you were handling a few weeks back. well. face it that you are gonna face the major A levels examination at the end of the year. i jolly understood how you guys are feeling right now when i stepped down from tc exactly a year ago. along with my batch of members, we had doubts about you people. we were afraid that the legacy which we have left behind is going to be tarnished within a matter of a few weeks. we kept holding onto our portfolio despite handing over. (notice the year 3s seniors left only towards the end of july.)

the moment (approaching prelim exams) came and we had to completely let go. though at that point in time we were missing in action, i began to see how the year 2s grow when i joined stb early this year. everyone was on task despite their academics and it feels good to see everyone hanging on strong. in terms of maturity, everyone was more confident of themselves and on my side, i felt nostalgic as a stb officer talking to my juniors with regards to their qe. it was slightly more than a year ago when i was sitting in their position, yet time flies past so quickly and you can see the current batch of year 2s unleashing their unity as a club. behind every capable ex-co lies a group of committed members and that was what i was most impressed about this batch of juniors. im very thankful of the 3 pcs - rongxin, tracey and zhichuan. rongxin because she was the 'saikang' warrior of their batch, doing everything to her best and i hardly see her procrascinating. tracey for her immense hard work and efforts put in despite her health condition and her heavy outside commitments. zhichuan for his 'never say die' attitude when it comes to producing quality proposals for the numerous events, the jap visit in particular. and shaun, despite wanting to be the pm initially, he did a good job within the club by bonding the year 1s and 2s together and that boosted the morale of the club as a whole. his effort is commendable.

though there were several hiccups during the qe, for a student initated event, it was more than good. the kids certainly enjoyed themselves and the event was a success from stb's point of view. sadly, i wasnt able to turn up for the jap event because my leave wasnt approved on time. that concludes their year in tc. wasn't in fast?

year 2s. please do not screw up your As. it is gonna decide your future by giving you a pass to the course and university which you want to go to. no joking matter. after A levels, feel free to pursue whatever you want but i guess it isnt the right time now. university applications were especially competitive this year and those who didnt qualify for one are either retaking their As (for the girls) or waiting to reapply next year (for the guys). with these people applying next year, i can assure you that competition is going to be keen. not to say for scholarships etc. i do not foresee any problems if you guys put in the effort especially when we have 2 of the level's top scorers dating each other. hehs.

and to the incoming batch of year 1s. the journey ahead is not going to smooth sailing especially in the later part of this year and next year. i understand that some are you might not be comfortable with the new arrangements made to the club. like what i have told some of you, you are forced to work with people whom you do not like in the corporate world. so i'd suggest you guys take it off from young. frankly speaking, i do foresee some politics which is going to happen during your term in office, but take it as it comes. forgive and forget, ultimately you guys are friends afterall. to say the truth, my batch has our own politics but we are still keeping contact with each other and we managed to portray to good side to the public. many of you will also have to learn how to speak more confidently and in a mature manner and it is applicable to both ex-cos and the members. the image of tc has got to be kept up to its maximum when you are dealing with external parties, especially the stb officers. on a lighter note, everyone will be dealing with students and teachers during foreign visits so be enthusiatic by showing that you are confident. in terms of public relations, it will actually set a fundamental platform for your branding of the club. i presume branding is going to be a hot topic within your batch this year. live up to the standards of everyone basically. establish good connections not just with the pdps and tutors within tjc, simultaneously, doing external public relations is as crucial as well. a tip would be to exchange contacts with foreign groups so as to facilitate your juniors to have contacts in time to come. most importantly, don't be individualistic work as a team. i like the motto - "no one is left behind." with these qualities coupled with the goals which your club is going to set within the next year, i am going to see your batch handing over to the next generation without any regrets and passing out as confident tourism ambassadors.

that's it for now. for the current batch of year 1s, your first assignment has already been finalised. your programme manager, zhihui, will fill you guys with more details. as for the year 2s, if you are keen to join, please contact me as well. no problem on timing wise because it is going to take place on the weekend right after your jcts.

all the best to the year 2s in their future endeavours and to the year 1s, make the best out of your term in office.

June Camp 2007 was a success and there are many people I want to thank!!!

Firstly, as the President of the June Camp Committee, I want to thank the JCC for putting in so much hard work and sacrificing so much time in order to ensure the camp went well.

Thanks Sharon for all the help and the times you have fret about the money. Thanks Zhi Hui for your many ideas that brought about so many fun games for everyone. Thanks Maria for all the help you have provided. Thanks Clementine for the minutes of meetings you have wrote and efforts you have put in for the camp.

Apart from the June Camp Committee, I really want to thank everyone who made it for the camp. Especially Rong Xin, Hui Ting, Angeline, Desireen, Siew Min, Carol and Zhi Hui, who turned up for the camp and showed must enthusiasm even though they had attended another camp before this. And also many thanks to Hengpei, Zhi Chuan, Tracey, Clementine and Hendrik for making trips for their tuition, church or other lessons during the camp and also for coming back for the camp. Many thanks to the year 3s, Bryant, Rachel, Beryl and Hen Yuan for spending time with TC during this camp. And the teachers for sacrificing 2 days to overlook the camp. And everyone else whom i have not mentioned for showing so much enthusiasm during the camp. The camp wouldn't have been so much FUN without all of you guys.

So much happened during the camp. So much emotions and feelings. So many things learnt. So many experiences. So many memories made. So many bonds created. TC June Camp 2007 was really a fairytale made. But all these could not have happened without every single one of you.

My emotions took over me during the night of the party. Many moments i just felt like breaking down and cry. During the tribute, I didn't cry. However, I did not expect everyone to sing along together to At the Beginning. That was the 1st time, I really just wanted to cry. When Gordon made his speech and broke down, I felt how he was feeling, and I knew it was going to be all over. That was the 2nd time I felt like crying. When Zoe light up my candle, everything became so clear to me. The Year 2s will no longer be with us. Their responsibility has been passed on to us like how the flame on my candle burned on. Yesterday Night was certainly touching. Thank you to all year ones. This is my 2nd ever post. :>. its few and far between but i certainly type this from the bottom of my heart.

I entered tc eventhough i did not really have an inclination to join the tourism industry. that pretty much have no changed but i have learnt loads for everyone around me. the most important thing is not to do what you do well. its to want to do what you do well.

I was a greenhorn too when i got the post of Programmes Manager. But thanks to the guidance and all the excellent times the club has had, i grew.

This will be a tribute to all tc members.

To my president, Gordon:
Thanks my friend, for all the guidance in the past year. Jokes aside, i treasure friendships alot and in reality, i would have done alot worse at my PM job had i not drawn strength and courage from the way the JCC of 06 ran the june camp. i was astonished with the success of that camp and i was humbled by your charisma( serious you do have charisma).

Gordon, a charismatic leader, a wonderful friend.

To my vice president, Zoe:
Personal feelings aside, you have been a great inspiration to me as well. You may not believe you are confident, intellectual and firm, but it is a fact that remains till this day, that i drew my confidence to lead the planning of events from your assuring smile and confidence everytime you speak with or in place of Gordon. You are extremely merticulous and a deep thinker as well, something has has alluded me thus far. Thank you:> now and on. You have been a great friend to all Tc members, im sure i speak for them on this. You have been another great pal to have, with your shared lameness with Rong Xin lighting up the club. This is not forgetting your effienciency and committment to the club. Your com was down a long while then but the budget was always on time because you ate into your own resting time and stayed in school to use the hub computers to do them. I saw you there a few times typing TC stuff and your committment to TC is there for all to see. Thank you for the great memories in TC and the fun we have had at the 2 camps.

Heng Pei is always very serious haha and somehow manages to type minutes of meeting with the PDA phone, which i still have no clue how it is done lol. But she is also very fun too. When you put her together with the many other girls in the club, you will see her bubbliness shine. Haha, when tracey was talking to hengpei regarding the "Nie Jin" issue, there was all the laughter, "eye-rolling" and etc. very fun to watch although im not ver very interested :P. Heng Pei loves anime too:> Just like Zhi Chuan and me haha. Have a great year ahead friend:>

Your very commited as well, and when i gave you the huge project of the JAP visit, you did brillaintly. Thank you my friend, eat more;)

Now the diff classes, we are a little far again but we'll be friends forever:> It must be hard for you to take a role which has no clearly defined jobs so its really not your fault:> Your a great thinker, and i actually voted for you to be PM last year, because you were the pinnacle of leadership for me. i respected and admired how you led the SC in ngee ann although i never said. Well, Shaun got me to blog my feelings online as he has done.
Woke up feeling kind of empty this morning... I guess from the moment i lighted the candle of Junying, something hit me. That the times spent arguing, saying crazy things, doing crazy things(right hendrik?), laughing non-stop and most of all, planning events will all become memories. I must say the greatest thing that happened to me in JC is joining TC. I don't know how many of you know that one of the reasons I decided to appeal back to TJ was because of TC. It would never be so if not the two wonderful seniors, Heyuan and Bryant, actually took out time to talk to me and gave me advice and changed my life. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH. Since i did not give a speech yesterday, I'll thank the people here today.

To HeYuan:
YOU ARE THE MOST SELFLESS PERSON ON EARTH(excluding rong xin). Thank you for all your advice and the time spent on the phone when i was appealing back. You made me feel so much better, so much clearer of what I wanted. Thank you for always so great to the juniors. You really set a great example. Really happy that you have done so well for the examination, WISH YOU SUCCESS.

To Bryant:
Thank you for the time at the MOS. Thank you for the advice that made me see a bigger picture. You are really a strong person on the outside but soft on the inside. I've learnt a lot from you and really glad you've chosen your path. WISH YOU SUCESS.

TC camp Day 2 and handing over...

Yea Day 2 of the camp... haha... i guess it started with playing bridge in and outside the theatrette, watching movies and just trying to beat the cold while sleeping in the room... yea amazing race was quite unexpectedly tough... argh.... i guess ppl would be wondering why there are a bunch of crazy people running down the street of orchard, and also the shocked motorists that got stalked by us while we asked them to pressed their honks, and of course many more during the whole 2 days of camp games and activities...

Well i guess every thing has to come to an end... and yea hope everyone had enjoyed the short two days of camp with the long hours and days of effort and preparation by the June Camp Committee as well as the year 1s who had done their part by writing us such touching messages....

As for the positions that the teachers and yr 2s have decided... i guess no matter whether u had been upset or happy by the post u have been given or even the post that is given to someone unexpectedly from someone u had wished... the posts that we had spent hours, days, or even just a month before trying to source for candidates and talking/chatting to individuals and assessing all of your potentials... i guess we are rather impressed by the potentials we have yet to seen displayed by all of you... but the ultimate posts and decision made are definitely thought through thoroughly coz we hoped that everyone in the club would be able to complement one another and that everything would work out fine... okay so hope the yr 1s would just put behind all of their first impressions, grudges or opinions to anyone from the past semester and start everything anew.... afterall u gals are one family, one club and one identity... the seniors do not have anything much to ask from u gals... but mainly just hoping that everyone would have good relations with one another and everyone would be committed in contributing to the ongoing of the club...

And to the yr 2s and yr 3s... thx for the times spent together... i guess i may have not done a rather good job as either the PD and PR... and maybe i hadn't set a good impression or image to the juniors... haha but really hope that the time and effort into trying to bond the club as one and making the club not a boring place to be... would at least pay off i guess... although that is somewhat not in relation to what i am supposed to do.... sorry that i don't leave much to share to the juniors and that i am sometimes quite irrelevant and less seious at times... hope u guys don't mind....

Well i guess that's all i wish to say although there are more emotions and feelings i have yearned to put it to words.... guess i had experienced extremes emotions throughout the 2 days of camp... happy, sad, disappointment and regret... i won't be leaving much memories behind i guess... haha... but yea all fairy tales end with a happy ending... and truly that is what the theme of the camp: WELCOME TO FAIRYTALE LAND! has proven to us... "童话故事都有完美和令人感动的结局"...

I would also use this opportunity to apologise to those who are unable to make it for the camp, specifically Angeline (year 1) and Gordon (but i'm still hoping you can come). This was the best possible arrangements to be made and i apologise that some sacrifices are to be made. I seriously had no choice but to settle with this arrangement. I thank you for your kind understanding.

As for Hendrik and Tracey, i am aware that you guys have church activities on sundays. I would really like to request for you guys to stay at the camp as you will miss the closing of the camp. But i will not force you guys to do anything against your will. you guys will be allowed to leave camp at the designated time slots and you can return to camp if it is still early. if you know that u'll be back late, i'll suggest that u bring ur belongings along so that it is more convevinent for you guys. I still would like you guys to stay on in the camp.

To everyone else who are able to turn up for the camp, i thank you guys for forking out time to attend the camp. i hope the camp will be up to your expectations. let's make this june camp a sucessful one by working together. thank you ^^

Yoz... here i am blogging for TC again... Yea we have got the design of the TC shirt ready yeah.. thx Jun Ying for designing it lots.... and yea saw the poster designed for the Jap Visit thingy... was really nice.... Thx for the people behind those posters and also to ppl who are currently working hard for the Jap visit... Yea... We have an unexpectedly good response in recruiting helpers for the event to the extent we have to closed the sign up process just like 1.5 hrs after the announcement is made... and so yea we don't even need to have announcement made for next week... haha relief for me.... and yea.... to sharon and her group that have spend time doing and thinking of the annoucement and seeing mr tong regarding it... u all have spend no doubt time and work on it... so don't fret k... hope everyone is doing fine now... and yea let me help carol do a favour since she has been missing in action for the past 2 weeks due to her SC nomination thingy... do vote for her under gamma... haha...

I guess the year 1s (TA 1 and JC1... from now on year 1 is collectively known as TA 1 and JC 1) are more or less starting to adapt to our school environment and culture... hope sch life hasn't been that stress in year 1 and hope everyone is coping well okay... if u do really need help or need a listening ear... do find us... TC will always be there to help no matter what... haha provided u dare to approach us... we are not so scary right haha...

And yea i guess some of u all may be experiencing some problems like about class bonding or even about the ability to cope with work and stress... i wouldn't say i didn't have such problems... coz yea at some point in time... sometimes u do really feel sadden about such stuffs and question urself about having to suffer and ur existence... coz yea frankly i do not have a very bonded class after JAE... yea i am not complaining lah HAHA... but my point is how we are able to play a good game with the cards we have and not about playing a game with good cards ( okay i got the quote from our physics lecture).... okay i also dunno what i am talking.... but whatever is it... everyone cheer up...! okay although i ask ppl to cheer up... i don't usually do HAHA...

I've seen so many pessimistic people in life and there is actually quite a few of them in our club. I don't really know what to say to change their mindsets but it really is a pity for this people to waste part of your life away living in misery just because you have been holding on to a grudge of not holding on to something or not cherishing something whilst it still existed. but haven't you realise that there are much more of other things that slip past you all this while? Whatever that's not yours or whatever that has went past you, let it go. Don't waste your life away. When you see this side of life, life will definitely be a happier place. Trust me, I've lost someone i loved very much and have every right to say whatever i said. Many have been shocked when i told them my story because never did i hold on to misery. Live a life that you have always wanted.

Another thing, sleep is very important. Get enough sleep!!!

anyway,on a more serious note,the JAE result will be out tmr.GOOD LUCK to the year ones..i mean hope that u can get to where u intend to get.as a tc member of course i would hope that the year ones will stay on in TC..but as a senior i do wish that u will go to where u think u belong and u think u will feel happy..in any case,hope that u have enjoyed your first 3 months and our meetings may seem to be mundane for some of u but nvm thats bcos u havent get into the real thing..the real thing begins after the second intake...whahah!!!i seriously dunno what im crapping..in any case i just want to wish everyone all the best!!!

oh hope that the year3s have done well for their a's(:

hello everyone!
to the j1s who don't know me, i'm he yuan, or more commonly referred to as henyuan.
i'm a j3 which effectively makes me old, old, old.
congrats on joining the tjc.tourismclub, which is now in it's 3rd generation...
and as a whole new team of tourism ambassadors, i hope you will rejuvenate the club
and bring forth greater successes!

Second orientation is coming on March 7/8, so i hope that most of you will stay on in tjc and of course, tc, because tc will provide ample opportunities for you to grow and have fun! And of course, feel free to blog regularly and/or give feedback to your seniors. They are most willing to listen and will help you if they can.

as for the j2s, it will be a busy year for all! and even more terrifying with the As at the end of the year. While handling club duties is important, i hope you will also allocate enough time to your studies! Striking a balance between the two is never easy, but u'll have to do it somehow, while remaining the model of perfection to your j1s!( ok, tt's a little far-fetched. but u get my drift.)

Just remember, when you're stressed or need help, focus on the things that are more urgent first. Or you could always ask around your mates for help.

With a little luck and good planning, i'm sure everything will fall into place.

A new beginning

To the JC2s of 2006:
We miss you all... thank you for all that you have taught us! We'll remember all the good times we had together. We would like to wish you all good luck to the new life out of JC. Really hope to meet each other again!

To all the JC2s of 2007:
It's going to be a new beginning to us too... not only a hectic academic year but also seniors to all the new year ones that are coming into TC. We shall try to the learn from our seniors, to hold on to the patience and generosity towards their juniors. From now onwards, we will set a good example... so let's be serious when there is work to be done and not to forget to add a tinge of the fun-factor during our meetings! Please do not lose yourself when under stress... we will all work together, no one is to do more than the rest! We'll start this year happily and end it joyously.

I know many of your teachers have been stressing about the "big thing" at the end of the year... I can tell that many of us haven't been getting our sleep and stress is written all over your faces. This is even more so for those of us taking H3 subjects... Please do not lose hope because everyone is going through the same thing! We shall encourage each other more so as to allow us to go through this trial together. This year is going to slip pass us even faster than it did last year. so... let's cherish our time together and live life to the fullest.

PATA School Forum

Zoe, Heng Pei, Tracey, Rong Xin, Denis, Zhi Chuan and ME went for the PATA school forum at Raffles Convention Centre today... was kindda interesting and enriching for all of us as we got to listen to guest speaker sharing their views on whether there is.. tourism in the industry - GOT FUTURE OR NOT? okay it is so singlish but think that the main highlight was really that of Marina Sands Integrated Resort to be due in 2009, i hope of creating 1500 more hotel rooms, and well over 30000 jobs in the long run. With their emphasize on overall entertainment and well thought architectual design, it is no wonder that they are injecting 5 billion sing dollars into the project alone. There is definitely still room for growth in the tourism industry with STB aiming at attracting 17 million tourism arrivals and 30 billion in tourism receipts by the the end of 2015 with their vision 2015... this is well over twice the number of tourist arivals(8.94m)and triple the tourism receipts generated (10.8b) in 2005.

As such throughout the whole seminar, we got to hear about educational opportunities at local as well as some foriegn institutions, views from some of the speakers as well as how the STB has decided to achieve its target by focusing on a new area of tourism known as MICE (which stands for Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition). STB has also decided to establish Singapore as a place which is BEYOND WORDS apart from the well-known local marketing of Uniquely Singapore...

HAHA sound so technical lol... but anyway its rather enriching for us... yeah got a goodie bag from STB... HEHE... NICE GOODIE INSIDE LEHZ... WHATEVER LOH...

yeap one day only! and super long day. i think we reported there at 9am.

overall, it was a good experience. tiring, no doubts about tt. but we got a feel of how it was like being a runner and see how operations run on the actual day of the travel fair. the number of people streaming in were overwhelming! and well we got paid. 70 each. haas. i wont mind working at travel fairs like, once a month!

Singapore Tourism Board Awards 2006
TJC Tourism Club was one of the 3 finalists for one of the awards at the STB awards held at the esplanade. an amazing feat considering that we are such a young club and so many other schools could have been listed as a finalist instead!

the dress code for the event was GLAMOUROUS. oh well, blazers aint tt glam but we are students anw. haas.

A: Nope, they are just visiting our school campus.
We are in charge of arranging activites for them
to know more about school life in Singapore and
our culture.

Q: If I do not know any foreign language, can i join?
A: YES you can! we'll be having translators!
So, do not worry about communication problems.

Q: Can i register online?
A: No you can't. As TC is a new pdp, we are not listed online yet.
Therefore you'll have to sign up as informed above to join TC.

Q: How many people can join TC?
A: We are a new pdp and so, we'd like to keep our pdp small.
we aim to be a cosy small and bonded family
so that everyone would feel at home and enjoy being in
TC instead of looking at it as a PDP, something you have to do.
